A landmark Senate agreement on national disclosure standards for GMO foods would allow companies to disclose GMO ingredients through digital codes rather than on-package language or symbols. The Colorado Corn Growers Association ,National corn growers and many others applauded Senate Ag Chairman Pat Roberts ranking Democrat Debbie Stabenow of Michigan for their agreement that will address the growing threat of patchwork state labeling laws . IN honor of national Pollinator Week and USDA signed an agreement with two major beekeeping organizations to help beekeepers take advantage of the department's conservation programs.The department also said that according to a new review of acreage enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program, "farmers and ranchers across the country have created more than 15 million acres of healthy habitat and forage for pollinators." Nearly 270,000 acres are enrolled in one pollinator-specific program and On Thursday, USDA announced changes to their crop insurance program to provide more flexibility for double cropping and purchasing more land. According to USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA), this change comes after scores of requests from farmers for a revised program.
