Supporters and Buyers of Youth Livestock Sales

Some of the biggest supporters of the 4-H and FFA Jr Livestock Shows can be found sitting around the sales ring come sale day. In each farming community, many business has those 4-H and FFA photos and thank you cards hanging on their bulletin boards. All of the hard work before and during the show is realized in the bittersweet sales ring at the end of a livestock show. Wilbur-Ellis North Palouse Sales Manager Junior Thies shares why he and his company participate in livestock shows every year.
Thies: “Just to help the kids out and to promote agriculture and the farm atmosphere and to get the kids more involved in doing other than sitting on the couch. To get them out taking care of animals and doing things like this and teaching them responsibility.”
Wilbur Ellis has been a long time and strong supporter of livestock sales and have been purchasing animals at the Jr Livestock Show of Spokane for more than 30 years.
Thies: “The last several years, we’re probably number two behind Les Schwab but we try to put as much back into our community and help the kids as much as we can.”
Thies continues
Thies: “We gain a lot of satisfaction. We try support our growers’ kids and also the community kids that aren’t a part of agriculture business — just to get them involved to understand what good this bring for everybody and I think they appreciate it a bunch.”
A BIG Thank You to Wilbur-Ellis and the many other individuals and businesses that take their time and money to support livestock sales.
