Year of Beef Blogging Recipes

Idaho CattleWomen member Jessie Jarvis has been blogging about different beef cuts and recipes since the beginning of the year on the Idaho CattleWomen’s website. Jarvis shares how the idea began
Jarvis: “So I first got the idea to do a Year of the Beef blog when I was unloading the boxes of meat into our freezer because Justin and I had slaughtered an animal. As a rancher and a beef eater — I’ve eaten all cuts of meat and read about them all. But as I was unloading these boxes of cuts, I thought, ‘Man I’ve never heard of this one before and I wonder how it cook it?’ I felt kind of overwhelmed a little bit. Then I thought, ‘If I’m somebody who works alongside with beef everyday — I can’t imagine how someone feels who has no idea how to cook it or haven’t eaten it very often in their life. So I thought, ‘If I’m having these feelings — there is no doubt that women and men in America have those feelings.’ If I jump out of my comfort zone and write about these things, maybe they will do the same.”
Jarvis encourages other ranchers to begin blogging or using other social media to tell their personal story.
If you are looking for recipe ideas that have been approved by ranch families, go to idahocattlewomen.org to peruse the great recipes. Some of my favorites are the steak bruchetta appetizers, Tex Mex stew and the slow cooker Mongolian Beef.
