Emergency Air Response Expands & Local Enforcement for Local Lands Act. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse of Washington has cosponsored a bill by Rep. Jason Chaffetz titled, "H.R. 4751, the Local Enforcement for Local Lands Act of 2016" which is in direct response to the recent armed standoff in southeastern Oregon.

NEWHOUSE: It eliminates the law enforcement functions of the Bureau of Land Management as well as the U.S. Forest Service on federal land but it instead grant that law enforcement responsibility to local entities so instead of a federalized police it would provide funding for local law enforcement to be performed by local entities, deputizing local law enforcement. I think that when it comes to federal lands this would be a step in the right direction to build trust within local communities.

Northwest MedStar is joining the Life Flight Network to expand emergency medical air response and membership services throughout the region. By merging the two programs they hope to expand services for their members. MedStar members automatically become Life Flight Network members on April 1st and benefits continue through Life Flight as well as improved response times which can be crucial in emergency situation.
