Colorado Corn Commits Additional $200,000 to Research
The Colorado Corn Administrative Committee has recently decided to give additional funds towards research. Colorado Corn Communications Director Eric Brown says that one of the focus of the state’s corn checkoff monies is towards research.Brown: “It’s one of the places that our farmers and our board members want to see it to go to. Those dollars go a long way in helping them to produce more with less. A lot of research projects that we invest in with Colorado State University, the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service. Being in the West — many of them are focused on water and in particularly and ways to use less water, drought tolerant hybrids.”
Brown continues with more details on their additional commitment towards research.
Brown: “Our board agreed to put $200,000 toward additional research projects and that is in addition to the about $185,000 that are still ongoing from last year or concluded last year. If you look at in the last couple of years of having upwards of $400,000 in research projects — obviously it’s a huge focus of ours. Again those are things that definitely comes back to benefit the producers. The knowledge that CSU attains throughout those projects and are passed back to producers down the road through extension service. It is something our producers take seriously. Obviously when you have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in these projects — we are putting our money where mouth is.”
