My Dairy Cows Are Not Abused

My Dairy Cows Are Not Abused. I'm Greg Martin with Washington Ag Today.

Krista Stauffer is a wife, mother, diary farmer and a blogger. Her blog is TheFarmersWifee.com and she recently posted a video on the site that has been getting some attention around the world wide web.

STAUFFER: My point of making this video was we're constantly being told and constantly having things going around saying that farmers are abusing their cows, dairy farms are a cruel place for animals and I can get on my blog, I can get on Facebook and I can say "no our cows aren't abused." I can write it in a million different ways but I decided showing people would be the best option to debunk that myth.

The video is the proof.

STAUFFER: I grabbed my daughter and my cell phone and went outside, we walked in the barn and we showed everybody that was interested what really happens on the farm and showed them a glimpse of the life of a cow on Stauffer Dairy and showed them who's really abusing who and how docile our cows are and how they're not afraid of us and how healthy they are.

So what kind of response has she gotten to the video?

STAUFFER: Positive, lots of positive. I haven't had any negative responses from it. I don't think you can really watch that video and have really anything negative to say. You can't really argue with the fact that our cows aren't scared of us and you can tell she's very comfortable with us so there's not really anything to argue with that.

And that's Washington Ag Today. I'm Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
