New Pear Trade Website

New Pear Trade Website

New Pear Trade Website. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Kathy Stephenson, Communications Director for Pear Bureau Northwest recently talked with me about a brand new consumer web site they've launched that updates and improves on information available. She says they have now done the same for their industry website.

STEPHENSON: We have transferred all of our websites to a new platform which makes it easy for us to make changes ourselves and add in value that we develop each day so we can share it with our consumers and our retailers so now we have made the shift for our trade site which really is there to support the retail trade, to support the buyer and the merchandiser and the produce clerk.

She talks about what changes have been made.

STEPHENSON: What we've done mostly is made it so it is readily readable whether it's on a cellphone or a tablet or whatever the platform is they're using to review the information. And when you get to the site of course we're going to provide all the information about varieties and our wonderful growing regions in Washington and Oregon.

Stephenson says there is a great deal of information available on the site and it's available really for anyone who wants to check it out.

STEPHENSON: You can just go to trade.usapears.com and it's open and available for anyone. We do have a members only site that is available only for our shippers, growers, etc. but this site is available for anyone to go and review and enjoy and learn about pears. We're willing to share this information with everyone.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
