08/19/05 New favorite - White wines

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today I usually tell you about my new favorite wine But this past week it's been very hot and I haven't wanted anything that wasn't chilled. So I loaded up the refrigerator with some treats. Join me today as I take you through a week with out red wine. Well I will begin by saying that the week did include a Rose so it was not exclusively void of red wine. We hardly cook indoors during the summer so most meals are off the grill. It's an important point to understanding how great these wines were. Just feature that slightly charred grill flavor on just about everything. We started out the week with a Rose that was made from Cabernet Franc - it accompanied lamb sausages that are made with garlic and herbs. Cab Franc is fabulous made as Rose, look for a few different ones from Washington. That wonderful wine was followed the next night by a piece of grilled salmon and a fruity pinot gris - WoW! The next night a simple grilled chicken sausages smothered in grilled vegetables was out of this world with a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. But I have to say it was not nearly as good as the grilled salad this is where you grill lots of vegetables like onions and fennel you let them cool down to room temperature and you toss them with a mild vinaigrette and serve them with a German Riesling !! So as it ended up my new favorite wine this week really was the wine that was in my glass at the time. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
