National FFA Convention

National FFA Convention

This week, more than 60,000 blue jackets and their family members and supporters descended on Louisville, KY for the 88th annual National FFA Convention. The best of luck to our many FFA members and chapters representing our states vying for national awards.
One of the keynote speakers from Wednesday’s opening session was Dr. Rick Rigby. His message is one that can benefit anyone — whether you were in the audience in Louisville or not. He speaks to listening to the wisdom of those people in our life that helped to shape us.
Rigby: “But hold on to their wisdom because the combination of knowledge and wisdom builds the foundation on which you stand for that is right — not what is politically correct — but that is right. When you have that torrants of wind blowing everyday telling you to support what is wrong — that you know can’t possible be right. You are holding on to the wisdom from your parents, from your ag teachers — that’s what helps to amplify the essence of what made America great. Do you know what made us great? It isn’t the color of our skin, or what cars we drive, not how many acres we have but do you know what made us great? A respect of the land, a love for God, a respect for the ground. Telling the truth, thinking the best of people, doing what you say you will do. Those are values that are lost today. But if these future leaders can hold on to some wisdom along with that knowledge they can amplify around the world. That is essence was my message.”
