WOTUS Upate

Although there has been a national temporary stay placed on the implementation of EPA's Waters of the US or WOTUS, ranchers still need to be engaged in this issue. National Cattlemen's Beef Association Environmental Counsel Scott Yager shares more about the current state of WOTUS litigation

Yager: "The latest that the panel of judges for the districts decided that there is no need to consolidate those district cases. This means the cases and there are 15 different cases will proceed separately in the in their various district courts. This is more good news following last week's national stay of the rule."

It is important that ranchers continue to visit with their legislators to push for legislation to stop WOTUS as Yager explains.

Yager: "We have a national stay of the rule and we're having the district court cases continue in their preferred venues but the stay is just temporary relief. We have to remember here. What folks at home can do is continue talking to their congressman and talk to their senators like we're doing here to push for stand alone legislation namely S 1140 to repeal the WOTUS rule. If we can't get stand alone legislation we will work on getting something in to a package that would carryover some of that appropriations language that would defund the rule."
