GlobalG.A.P. Meeting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Today is the day if you want information on GlobalG.A.P. V.5. A meeting will take place today at 1pm in Wenatchee at the Washington Apple Commission's office. GLOBALG.A.P. is a business-to-business standard for safe and sustainable food production.  Meeting Goals include a discussion of registration Fee Table v2.2; a presentation of new IFAv5 major standard revision summary and respond to any technical/market questions, in particular the new responsible water usage/management control points and a discussion on FSMA readiness preparations which will likely take the form of an add-on via our USA Crops National Technical Working Group. There will also be time to address any stakeholder concerns. Nicole Brunner, Education & Member Services Director for the Washington State Tree Fruit Association will lead the meeting.

BRUNNER: This is a big one for the tree fruit industry. A lot of apple, pear, cherry growers choose GlobalG.A.P. They could ship domestically or export their fruit once they're certified to this standard. Every three years they update their standards and so this next July they will be on to version five so this is a really good meeting that stakeholders
