Buy an Apple, Help a Student

Buy an Apple, Help a Student. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

This fall, supporting school causes will be as easy as taking a bite out of your favorite apple. Wendy Brannen, Director, Consumer Health & Public Relations for U.S. Apple Association explains.

BRANNEN: Well everybody knows that apples are super healthy and nutritious and of course we've always supported healthy bodies so this is our way of supporting healthy brains. Hence the birth of "Buy an Apple, Help a Student." So our Apples for Education campaign will be housed at Apples4Ed.com and that's where people can find out more information about this campaign. When people buy an apple this fall or an apple related product like Marzetti Caramel Dips, KIND Snacks,Johnsonville Sausage or Roth Cheese we will give money to select education causes across the country.

Brannen says they will be looking for qualifying projects.

BRANNEN: Now through the beginning of September we really need help finding viable causes out there, everything from classroom textbooks to library e-readers, nutrition education programs we always love those and we're hoping to support it. We'd like to see a well rounded line up of causes that we can support across the country.

She says then you will need to vote on the projects through their Snack, Snap, Tag and Share process. Details are on their website; Apple4Ed.com.
