Three Collared Wolves Per Oregon Pack

Ninety-three and half percent of Oregon’s wolf population resides in Eastern Oregon. Oregon Rancher and one of the founders of the Oregon Wolf Education Kerry Tienhaara says
Tienhaara: “It says in the Oregon Wolf Conservation Management Plan that three members of each pack should be collared. In turn give local — not just ranchers — but general public where these wolves are and to-date that hasn’t been happening.”
Tienhaara explains that in the Emmnaha pack that Technically three wolves are collared. However OR 25 comes and goes and when out of the area — no texts are received. OR-4 does have a collar but the GPS has not worked for the past year so unless someone close enough to track him with a VHS a handheld antenna so not very often and final wolf OR 33 does wear a functioning GPS collar: so one of three can be tracked on a regular basis.
I reported earlier this year that of the Umatilla pack’s three collared wolves —- OR 14 left the pack area and OR 23 had been dispersed. So two of the three were gone and then in early March a rancher shared that he received a text that OR-22 had left the Umatilla River pack and that no collared wolves remained in the pack. The ODFW text did add that “Notification will resume when other wolves are collared” No indication of WHEN that may be…
