07/15/05 New favorite - Adelsheim Pinot Gris

Welcome to Vine to Wine, this is your host Linda Moran and as most of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Because I just won't drink wine that I do not like. On today's program I will share with you a wine from a very well established producer out of Oregon. My husband and I recently had houseguests visiting from Oregon. As a gift, they shared with us one of their favorite wines, from their home state. To my pleasant surprise it was a winery that I am familiar with. The wine was a newly released 2004 Adelsheim Vineyard Oregon Pinot Gris. It is a crisp delightful and oh so easy to sip wine that started out with our appetizers off the grill and sailed smoothly through the salad course. It was crisp and clean, with lots of subtle fruits in the nose and on the palate. We were definitely sad to see that empty bottle. It left us wanting more which I say is good sign. Adelsheim is one of the patriarchs of the Oregon wine industry and their experience truly showed up in this wine that came from a rather difficult vintage. Although they are best known for their Pinot Noir I must say that I was delighted to experience this Pinot Gris. It is a perfect summer wine and I think it will last me right through to Thanksgiving. It is so reasonably priced it could become your new house wine. To find out where you can purchase their wine visit their website at adelsheim dot com. And thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
