Being a Voice for Agriculture

Central Kansas farmer Greg Peterson and his brothers weren’t looking for more than 9 million YouTube hits with their first video two years ago — but that is what they got and it launched the family into a very active agvocating role as Peterson explains
Peterson: “Few years ago we released our first parody video, “I’m Farming and I Grow it.” At that point, we had obviously no idea what we were getting into, and we were flying by the seat of our pants. But after about six months, we realized the platform that we had and we decided that we were going to make more videos and we decided to move towards that advocacy path. That has lead to all sorts of speaking opportunities, performing opportunities. We’ve started our Facebook page, our Twitter, a blog. We are basically just doing everything that we can to promote what we do.”
As a farmer or rancher you can make a difference whether you have an audience of 100 or one in beginning a conversation about agriculture as Peterson shares
Peterson: “When it comes to advocating for agriculture or anything really. The best thing to do is to just get started and as long as you are doing something and looking for new ways to advocate — that is the most important thing. It doesn’t have to be to a million people it just needs to be to one. One on one conversations can be just as effective as someone watching our videos.”
