Jake and GMO Ban

I wanted to get a perspective on the two counties in Oregon that banned GMO foods from being raised there from Idaho Farm Bureau's Jake Putnam. "I think what we are seeing here is a very interesting phenomenon of the times. This is a perfect example of carefully crafted youth using a weapon of mass fear. In this day of the Internet, you can say anything you want on any social media outlet and people accepted as being the truth. In this day and age, people simply are not looking at the facts. Social media fuels the fire and just as I said before anyone can publish any outlandish, junk science claim on the Internet but when a plant breeder develops a strain of rice that is enhanced to help overcome vitamin A deficiency's in Third World countries, the media goes out and interviews these pseudoscientific scare mongers. I think what we are seeing here is what we saw in Africa with this rice, is that we are feeding people there and we only have a limited amount of resources on this planet and we have to feed as many mouths as possible. But getting back to the whole point is that these same initiatives were defeated in California and I just think that in many instances you have fear that is overtaking rational and scientific thought and research.
