Washington State FFA Convention Begins Today

The 84th Annual Washington State FFA Convention begins today in Pullman through Saturday. FFA students from around the state are coming to compete and win awards.
I spoke with Liberty FFA student Kaitlyn Rambo who will be competing in both Parliamentary Procedure and Ag Issues competition for the opportunity to compete at the National Convention in Louisville this fall. I asked Rambo what was the best part of participating in the State FFA Convention.
Rambo: “Oh meeting new people — definitely so — meeting new people and competing against your friends from people you play sports with. Other parents that are there to watch you and cheer you on. The adrenaline level gets to you. It’s a feeling you get that you couldn’t get doing anything else.”
For those of us who participated in FFA and the many fabulous programs it offers — we get it. But those of you who were not fortunate enough to be involved in FFA, Rambo shares what she has gained.
Rambo: “For me it is an experience — for a challenge. I’m involved in athletics. You practice for it every day, but I know that it take me farther in life than any state championship. It can give me money for college. The experience of talking in front of people is amazing and that is going to help me later in life.”
She will be a junior next year and plans on running for a district office.
