Oregon and Washington Cattlemen's Associations Come Together for Mid-Year Meeting

As anyone in the beef industry can attest, regardless of where you live, there are issues that affect all of us: be it the wolf issue, sage grouse or water quality. So, beef producers from both Washington and Oregon are invited to the combined states’ Mid-Year meeting that will be held at the end of June in Pendleton.

Kay Teisl, Executive Director of the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, shares more details.

Teisl: “We’re going to be holding a joint-MidYear Conference and Trade Show in Pendleton this year, June 26-28. We’re doing that with the Washington Cattlemen’s Association. We are going to kick off this year’s event with a wolf depredation identification workshop for people interested in learning more about how to identify wolf depredation.”

Following that workshop, there will be a golf scramble and then a BBQ that first day. As with any cattlemen’s association event — there is plenty going on for the Wednesday through Saturday schedule. Teisl encourages ranchers from both states to attend.

Teisl: “Well, its a great mix of opportunities for networking and we’ve got a lot of educational speakers and venues and then we will also have some fun time too.”

Other speakers include panel discussions on both ag water quality as well as Sage Grouse an include updates from both the Public Lands Council as well as the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
