Republican Congressman Mike Simpson votes to stop the IRS from targeting conservative groups. Before we get started on talking about conservative groups let me just vent for a second. Welcome to The Northwest Ag Information Network, a news network that is not totally obsessed with covering gay marriage and same-sex couples. I'm not homophobic, I am single topic phobic. Newspapers, radio and television news, which tend to be totally liberal, for the last I can't remember how long have headlined the gay marriage story to the point where I don't think anything else matters in our national agenda. We understand their battle but let's cover something else for God's sake. Now back to Congressman Simpson.

The Congressman recently supported passage of H.R. 3865, the Stop Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act of 2014.  This legislation prohibits for one year a proposal by the Internal Revenue Service to unilaterally change the regulations, in place for fifty years, which allow certain organizations to engage in political activities. The bill passed 243 to176. Here is Simpson spokesperson Nikki Watts: "It is clear that this proposed regulation by the Obama Administration would primarily impact conservative organizations, without impacting labor unions. It is an attempt to suppress the political activity of the Administration's opponents.  This legislation would stop it." The investigation into the targeting of conservative groups at the IRS is still ongoing. You see, we are actually able to cover different topics.
