New Sugarbeet Varieties Introduced for 2014 Season

To help sugarbeet growers produce high-quality, high-percentage sugar content, Syngenta has introduced new varieties tailored to combat regional pest issues and deliver top genetic performance.

 

Syngenta North America Sugarbeet Product Lead Trevor Cook shares more details about how to get their new variety offerings.

Cook: "We have a seed rep in each region and they can get hold of them and they can let them know what they can provide for them in their specific region. So we've got -- like I say -- a variety of crops on the market. But three specialty varieties -- aphanomyces and out-of-area sugar varieties . Then we've got 9438 as a new test market variety for the market that meets the Curley top criteria for the whole region. So it will be available for all of Oregon, Washington, Western Idaho and Eastern Idaho as well. It brings good Fusarium and some root protection as well. In addition to the fully approved 9341."

Cook adds that available on these new varieties is

 

Cook: "In addition to our genetic resistance and tolerance in these different disease-types, we offer on all of our varieties CruiserMaxx Sugarbeets with combines a insecticide/fungicide to help establish the stand in the spring so to combat those early season pests and diseases. That is available on all of our varieties."
