10th Annual Cattlemen's Workshop in LaGrande

On Saturday, January 11th at the Blue Mountain Conference Center in LaGrande, Oregon, is the 10th Annual Cattlemen's Workshop. As anyone who has attended these informative seminars in the past knows, it is well worth a trip to LaGrande to participate.

Director for Oregon State University Eastern Oregon Ag and Natural Resources Program Dr. Tim DelCurto shares more details.

DelCurto: "Well, what we've always tried to do with the Cattlemen's Workshop is to bring in national and international speakers to really let our cow-calf folks as well as our students hear what is going on -- really from the experts. We try to talk about opportunities and where the future of the beef cattle industry is going. I think it is a very bright future -- It is changing. Its got a lot of challenges but also a lot of opportunities."

The kick-off speaker this year will be Bruce Vincent, a Libby, Montana native who is passionate about natural resources industries and sharing our story with the public. Colorado State University professor Dr. Bernie Rollin will be addressing animal welfare in the beef industry. Return speaker Tom Brink will be discussing value based marketing for the cow-calf producers. This is just a portion of the day's speakers.

Delcurto reminds ranchers that the day's workshop is free and there is no registration fee for attending.

Delcurto: "One of the cool things about our cattlemen's workshop is that it is very strongly supported by the beef cattle industry directly. So yea, the speakers and everything is free. There is no RSVP -- just show up and enjoy the program and enjoy a free lunch."
