Ending the Week on an Up Note
Ending the Week on an Up NoteI'm Greg Martin with the Market Line Report for December 23, 2013.
As we move in to the Christmas week the markets seemed to see a upsurge on Friday according to Liane Feldstein from INTL FCStone.
FELDSTEIN: It's nice to see wheat rebound a little after hitting the 19-month low. And this was due to the fact that the U.S. Department of Agriculture came out and said we could see world production for wheat of over 700-million tonnes. A large part of this is due to the Argentinian crop - reports showing that they expect good climate and the number of acres planted for wheat extremely high. We also saw Egypt turn to Romania and Russia instead of the U.S. to buy some wheat and this begs the question if the United States is losing its global competitiveness in the wheat market.
