A recent article in the Idaho Statesman told us all that Idaho is headed for a record for the third consecutive year in terms of exports. They mentioned Canada and Mexico as being great markets for Idaho ag products and I called state agriculture department, ISDA, trade specialist Amanda Gibson: " We have set agricultural export records for the last two years and this year we are on track to set another record. That article mentioned that we are staying strong with Canada and Mexico but I would also like to mention that there has been noticeable growth in Korea, Columbia and Panama. We have recently signed free trade agreements with those countries so it has been very beneficial for things like potatoes, produce, dairy, so significant increases in those markets as well. What about wheat exports? 50% of the wheat that we grow is exported.
