Wheat Up Slightly for Friday, But Down on the Week

I'm KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for November 4, 2013.

December wheat managed to close 1/4 cent higher on the session Friday but still lost 23 cents for the week. The wheat market was disappointed this week that unlike buyers of corn and beans, wheat importers did not actively book needs during the government shutdown. From the floor of the CME Group, Larry Shover shares his observations of Friday's markets.

Shover: "Well Friday's grain market really pretty slow today. Wheat finished the day up about 3 cents traded down last night and even earlier today it did make a pretty good rally back given the bearish narrative overall. Again strong dollar just keeps people thinking that wheat has some downside room."

Chicago December Wheat ended Friday up a 1/4 of a cent at 6-67 and 3/4. December corn ended the day down a penny at 4-27 and 1/4.??Portland prices for soft white white were up a 1/4 of a cent at mostly 7-11 and 3/4. White club wheat prices were up a 1/4 of a cent at mostly 7-31 and 3/4. Bids for Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein were not available for November delivery. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein was down 4 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-39 and 1/2.

?December live cattle were down 65 cents Friday at 132-07 and half. January Feeder cattle were down 20 cents at 163-47 and a half. December class III milk was down 6 cents at 18-27.
