Coke Goes Green

Coke Goes Green

Coca-Cola has gone green, at least in Argentina, where the all new organic sugar drink, Coca-Cola Life, was recently launched. Touting a new green colored label Coca-Cola Life is sweetened with sugar and the natural no-calorie sweetener stevia. This new version of Coke is even packaged in a bottle made with 30% plant material and is fully recyclable. Coca-Cola Life’s calorie count falls between the classic Coke’s 250 calories and the zero calorie diet Coke at 108 calories per bottle. While the mega soda giant has used stevia in several of its other products, this is the first time ever it has been incorporated into the company’s classic cola. I know there are those out there who are saying, so what, it’s still a soda. And granted, a person should probably limit their soda intake. But for those of us who do enjoy the crisp bitey taste of a cola now and again this might just be the next step towards a healthier soda choice. And before you jump all over me for using the words healthier and soda in the same context, let me point out that at least it is a step in the right direction as far using natural sugars, having less calories, and more environmentally friendly packaging.
