8-19 SS F&G Archery
The Idaho Department of Fish & Game is holding a 3D archery shoot at the Sand Creek Wildlife Management Area headquarters building located at 2885 N. River Rd, St. Anthony, Idaho. The course will be open from 11:00am -1:00pm on Saturday August 24th. This course is meant for all ages and skill levels. We will have several skills tests for more advanced archers and a beginners area set up for first timers. James Brower with the Idaho Fish & Game: “We have a grass lawn we will be shooting targets from and it will be from a tree stand point of view. Targets will be mule deer, white tail, bobcats and things like that which will be placed out in the trees nearby in a more natural setting with some coyotes in the sagebrush country just to give people a different perspective on what it is like to shoot at a target versus a 3-D target or real animal out in the field. Above and beyond that this is for use or non-experienced bow hunters, we will have some regular targets set up so that they can get a feel for the equipment, distancing and what it is like to shoot a bow. Some people are not familiar with the equipment and maybe have never shot a bow before and we are accepting anybody who wants to participate. What is the interest on the part of fish and game in getting the general public familiar with archery? We are trying to help people become proficient hunters, to hone their skills so they only have to take one shot which will hit the animal in a vital area and kill an animal as cleanly and quickly as possible.
