No News is Not Good News

No News is Not Good News

The old proverbial saying is, “No news is good news” well in the case of recently released medical research that just isn’t so. Too often the mainstream media, reports the doom and gloom and the many foods you SHOULD not eat, but never seem to share the news when it shows to be positive.

Now a study says that eating red meat had no direct correlation between cardiovascular disease and cancer. Have you seen anything on the evening news or read about it? Well, if you read ag industry publications and websites, maybe. A recent blog on the American Meat Institute website brought it to my attention.

Field reporter Greg Martin shares more

“According to a published study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition there was no increased risk of mortality linked to higher red meat consumption. This study pooled data from other research studies in eight Asian nations. Red meat consumption has typically been substantially lower in the U.S. and other Western Countries. So although there has been an increase in meat intake in Asian countries; their pooled analysis did not provide evidence of a higher risk of mortality for total meat intake. In addition to that positive news, it also concluded that an intake in red meat decreased cardiovascular mortality in men as well as decreasing cancer deaths in women.”
