 Antelope hunting 101 for beginners.

Anthony Ocamica is a Sportsman’s Warehouse sales associate specializing  in duck calls and decoying. However, like so many of his colleagues, and because of his extreme knowledge of the outdoors combined with the fact that he is an avid hunter, it could almost be said that he serves as a hunting advisor.  I asked him recently about one of his passions in the hunting world and he said it was antelope. That immediately begged the question from me: “ I would say find what ever cover that you can, or any terrain abnormalities such as a gully, or a ravine, or a line of trees or sagebrush. Something that you can use to conceal yourself from them and the and the slow. They are like a turkey, they have great eyesight and they can see from a long way away. The slightest movement, even if they catch that movement, you stop. Give them a few seconds to relax, they will see that there is no danger there and they will go back to doing what they were doing. Once they are alerted, they will let the whole herd no and once the herd is alerted they are gone. There is an old saying, patience is a virtue, with a hunter it is a must. Patience is a must. You cannot just pick something out and go after it because you will run it off.That is especially true of an antelope Because they can run for miles. Just be patient and still.
