House Slow On Immigration

Dan Fazio with the Washington Farm Labor Association says the Senate’s version of the comprehensive immigration reform looks pretty good.
FAZIO: We’ve got a really nice summary of what happens up through Friday the 24th. That was done by Kristi Boswell. She’s the Congressional Relations Director for the American Farm Bureau and intimately involved in the debate between the United Farm Workers and the Agriculture Workforce Coalition.
That summary has been posted on their website at wafla.org and click on Immigration Reform Briefings. Fazio says that while the Senate has been very proactive on moving ahead, on the House side - not so much.
FAZIO: The House is a little bit behind the Senate. A lot of people think the Senate bill is going to go over to the House and then the House will just take up the Senate bill and it will just go from there but I think the House has other ideas and they’re going to have a bill of their own. So we’re looking forward to the folks in the House to finish up their bill.
He says there are several different options to what might happen.
FAZIO: We’re hoping that the House and the Senate get to working on a joint bill later on this year but right now not too much to report out of the House other than we hope there bill will be ready to go soon.
