Immigration Changes Part 3

Immigration Changes Part 3

Immigration Changes Part 3. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Line On Agriculture.

Today we finish up our chat with Washington Farm Labor Association’s Dan Fazio regarding the proposed immigration reform. Fazio says that as usual:

FAZIO: There hasn’t been universal love of this bill. Some of the worker advocates don’t like some of the provisions and it does not give as favorable treatment to the undocumented workers as the Senate bill. We’re hoping that some of the ideas in Rep. Goodlatte’s bill can be used to suggest some changes in the Senate bill.

Fazio talks about the key to these Goodlatte bills.

FAZIO: They can be used to educate and inform people and that’s what we’re looking for , Greg. That’s in the Senate bill as well as the House. All of the House bills are going to have to come through Rep. Goodlatte’s committee and so he’s trying to give some pointers to people that are moving the bill through. To sum up, we’re in the early stages – we have not seen the final form of the bill that will come out of the Senate or the House. We expect hearings on House bills and Senate bills to be happening and the bottom line, May is going to be a busy time for immigration reform and your listeners can go to wafla.org anytime after this Friday to watch an update from D.C. and we’ll keep your listeners posted on what they need to know on immigration reform.

That’s today’s Line On Agriculture. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
