WAFLA Webinars

WAFLA Webinars. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Kim Bresler with the Washington Farm Labor Association says that with all the recent discussion about immigration issues that the recent labor conference was well attended.

BRESLER: This year we had the best labor conference that we’ve ever had; record attendance and just phenomenal breakouts. We had the 12 total breakouts and we wanted to take an opportunity to repeat half of these breakouts and share them with the people that maybe didn’t make that particular breakout during the conference or just couldn’t make the conference.

She talks about the individual webinars.

BRESLER: They’re going to take place Tuesdays and Thursdays in May and the first part of June. The first one is Hot Topics: Employment Standards Program Labor and Industries. We work close with the employment standards program at Labor and Industries. We have a phenomenal presenter that does outreach for them to come and speak about the farm labor contractors section and other employment programs. Next is the managing workers comp claims and costs. And then we go into hiring progressive discipline and termination best practices. And the we’re going into what is a farm labor contractor and am I working with one right now.

And they will finish up with an EEOC session. If you are interested in any of these programs contact the Washington Farm Labor Association at wafla.org.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
