Winerywise Part 2

Winerywise Part 2

Winerywise™ Part 2. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Judy Thoet, Winerywise™ Steering Committee Member and Consulting Winemaker is excited about their upcoming workshops where they will be discussing the results of year-long winery sustainability trials, and an examination of the sustainability of current winery practices. There will also be a conversation about Low Input Viticulture and Enology or LIVE.

THOET: They’re going to come in and talk about how a winery actually went through the process of becoming certified sustainable.

She says that Winerywise™ is a fundamental guide to sustainability. So who should be attending one of these sessions?

THOET: Winery owners and winery personnel, anyone who is interested in improving the sustainability of their wineries. For example, do you want to look at how someone reduced their water usage? Do you want to know about how one winery improved their waste water situation? If you want to learn about how you can improve your own winery safety program as well.

Thoet gives us the particulars on the sessions.

THOET: We’re having them in three different locations starting out in Walla Walla on July 23rd. Then we’ll be at the Yakima Valley Community College in Grandview on July 24th and then our last session is going to be July 25 and we’re going to be in Woodinville at the Chateau St. Michelle winery.

Cost is $15 per person and you can register on their website at www.winerywise.org.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
