GRAS2P
Gras2p. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.
Growers who need a little help with getting ready for food safety program audits now have a chance to get a leg up on that process with the Gras2p program according to Bruce Grim.
GRIM: The Gras2p program is essentially designed to provide and audit, pre-audit process for growers. We know that in the food safety environment we’re working in now audits down to the orchard level are going to be required by a number of the food safety programs.
Grim says growers who take the time to follow through should be in a good position when audits come along.
GRIM: So the idea behind Gras2p is to have a program in place that growers will be able to use this notebook, workbook, however you want to phrase it as a checklist to get into compliance with the majority of the kinds of audits that will be coming along.
But he warns:
GRIM: It’s not an audit program in and of itself. We’re simply going to use the templates from a number of programs and try to have those broad enough so that whatever particular, specific audit the grower is required by his warehouse, his handler, his marketing group that he’ll then be able to pass that audit.
That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
