Wine Scholarships

Wine Scholarships. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Students! Are you interested in the wine industry? Sara Cornell with the Washington Wine Industry Foundation says they may be able to help.

CORNELL: The Washington Wine Industry Foundation annually offers scholarships for students interested in viticulture or enology in Washington State and this particular year we have three different sets of scholarships available.

Over $18,000 in scholarship awards were distributed for the academic year 2012-2013.
Cornell says the first one is the Horse Heaven Hills scholarship.

CORNELL: There’s actually two being offered in that particular scholarship. The Walter Clore scholarship and the S.W. Bill Preston scholarship. Each has slightly different requirements. Some require students to be residents of a certain area, others might specific study requirements, others are pretty broad in general.

You have a little bit of time to get your applications in for one of these scholarships.

CORNELL: June 1 is the postmark deadline. Then we have a committee that will review all of the scholarship applications and notices will be made later in the summer.

Of course if you want more information you can find it on their website at www.washingtonwinefoundation.org .

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
