3-28 SS Mike and Zeiss
Saying he’s my hero might be a little over-the-top but calling him a great mentor, outdoorsman and photojournalist is right in my wheelhouse.
Mike Eastman, founder of the great outdoor magazines Eastman’s Hunting Journals is just plain comfortable looking through optics. Whether it is a fancy camera or the scope on a rifle, when Mike takes a shot it usually results in something very memorable. I talked to him recently about his photos. “Most of my stuff has been big game wildlife and Zeiss is using a lot of my photos now and I have a couple of other manufacturers that want to use them. The idea behind them wanting to use your photos is because they are in the optics business? Yes they need good photos and they pay me for them because they use them with their optics. A lot of their optic ads are using my photos, I have a white tail in one, a mule deer and a bighorn sheep. I took a photo of a mule deer buck a month ago that scores in the 250s, it has 28 points and I have him sharp as a tack standing there from his chest up looking at me and they will probably use that somewhere big-time because there are very few times in anybody’s lifetime that somebody is going to get a shot of a 28 point muley buck and get sharp stuff like that and when I say sharp, you can blow this up to 19 x 20 and you can see the hairs on his eyelashes.
