 I got a call from Josh Mills the other day and he was raving about a bamboo fly rod that is custom made by an acquaintance of his.  “Recently I was given the opportunity to dive back into the origins of our sport, flyfishing, that is, and  see where it all came from in terms of gear. I was given the opportunity via the Outdoor Blogger Network to be the tester of one of the Fall River fly rods which was an 8 foot, five weight  bamboo fly rod. Typically, bamboo by rods of yesteryear, some are highly sought after and some are just there. They had their a slow action and it is a little more difficult cast but it is graceful and represents what the origins of the sport are all about. This Fall River fly rod shows up at my house and it is an absolute thing of beauty. I got out and casted it a few times and it is a stunning piece of  craftsmanship.
