2-22 SS Hand It Down

Tommy Conners and his partner Don Rollins are both avid hunters which is perfect for what they also love to do and that is writing country music.

I talked recently with country singer, writer and producer Tommy Conners about a theme that I love. Hunting is a way of life that is passed down from parent to child. Tommy and his partner Don have a rich hunting condition.  “Both of us grew up hunting with our fathers in the same part of South East Texas. I got my 1st 410 shotgun when I was 8 years old And I have been doing it all my life. We have talked a lot about the tradition of handing down hunting and this lifestyle from father to son. In my case, I have taught my kids since they were small. I have 15-year-old twin girls.” Tommy doesn’t just walk the walk. He talks the talk or make that sings the song. He and Don wrote a song called ‘Hand It Down’. “We did the whole thing. We do not have a record label involved in this, it is just all us. It was strictly a labor of love. We said what we felt say. We wrote it from a pretty serious place. This is not about Bubba drinking beer and shooting up the woods. We have work we are very proud of. ‘ I’m going to pass it on cause I know what it means. It’s father’s, sons, having roots in hallowed ground, it is up to me now to hand it down.’”
