2-21 SS Fox Mousing
Who dat? What dat? Photo of a lifetime.
I got this e-mail from Kaaren Robbins at Eastman’s Hunting Journals and my jaw dropped. Imagine this. A Wyoming field covered with probably a foot of snow. Right in the middle of the picture is two thirds of a red fox, absolutely vertical, but the two thirds shown are the shoulders, body and tail. The front paws and the head are buried in the snow. The title is fox mousing. Legendary outdoorsman Mike Eastman captured this action when he stopped and saw a red fox walking across the top of the snow, obviously listening carefully. All of a sudden he jumped up in the air and dived into the snow. What was he after? A vol. Mike said that seconds later the foxes head came up with a small meal in his mouth. I talked with this very humble guy. Micheal H. Eastman Recognized with Prestigious National Geographic and International Conservation Photography Awards. How does that make you feel? I don’t know. I got honorable mention with this. Out of my section we only have 2 honorable mentions. I guess the neat part is that there were over 22,000 photos submitted. I have done 3 international contests. I decided last July to do them. I want two of them, but nobody really knows about it unless you watch for that stuff. So really nobody knows who Micheal H. Eastman is.
