04/18/05 Monday question - Celebrating tax return

Welcome to Vine to Wine, this is your host Linda Moran and today we are answering email questions. An appropriate question came in a while ago and it seemed only fitting that I would wait until this week to answer it. A listener wrote to ask; "My tax accountant is a wine lover and she saved us great deal of money on our taxes this year. What would be a good wine to give to her as a thank you gift?" First of all we all want her name and number but all kidding aside it is a lovely gesture and we will look at some recommendations right after this break. So your accountant has done a great job for you and you want to reward her with a nice bottle of wine but you don't know what to get. First of all, determine your budget and ask yourself, just how much did she save me? If it was a bundle and you want to buy something truly extravagant there is a whole lot of Champagne out there, for over $100 per bottle, that would certainly show your appreciation. If you don't like the idea of Champagne, then look think about any clues she may have given about her tastes. Then ask for a recommendation from your local wine merchant. They are usually up on the trends and can find a wine, within your budget, that is worthy of aging for a few years. If you are still bewildered, then there is always a nice gift certificate to the wine shop. Whatever you do don't put too much pressure on yourself picking out a perfect bottle of wine. After all, you did pay her to do her job and, this is an additional show of appreciation. The stress of taxes is supposed to be over! Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net, and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
