Ag Community Supports Second Harvest

Ag Community Supports Second Harvest

Welcome to Open Range, I’m KayDee Gilkey. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks KayDee. Second Harvest collects and redistributes food products for those in need and according to Melissa Cloninger, Director of Community and Corporate Relations farmers play an important part in that effort.

CLONINGER: The ag industry, Greg, has been - I can’t find words that that support what is truly incredible relationship. We have had a relationship with growers in our service area almost from the start which was in 1971.

Companies like AgriBeef have been graciously contributing to Second Harvest for mobile distributions.

CLONINGER: In those mobile food distributions we did last week we did them in partnership with the Beef Counts program which is a collaboration of the beef community at large, the Washington State Beef Commission and Second Harvest. It’s a program in which the beef community raises funds that we use to purchase 3lb. beef roasts from AgriBeef.

How can you help?

CLONINGER: For the first time in our history we made an urgent plea asking the community to help us raise another $100-thousand dollars for transportation, packaging and distribution to those in need.

That’s today’s AgriBeef Minute, I’m Greg Martin

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m KayDee Gilkey.
