12-6 SS Tag Price
Do you want to go hunting out-of-state? I’m DS... if you do, it’s gonna cost you due to increased tag fees. Here is Eastman Hunting Journal’s Guy Eastman who isn’t happy about. “It’s a government agency 1st off. If they have a short fall they just increase prices. It is just like the post office. The problem is that now these states are learning that the supply and demand curve is not linear and when you increase the prices, you hit a breaking point where all of a sudden you lose the business. Idaho had a pretty large budget hole so they increased their price 10% and 40% of the non-resident hunters quit going there. So it burns a million dollar hole out to 5 million if you’re not careful. Wyoming’s the next one unfortunately. I live here. They say we haven’t increased our cost in 4 years. But look what’s happened in the economy in the last 4 years. Nobody has increased their prices. When you consider what a hunter spends and puts into the local economy as a function of the trip against an increased tag price, does that make any economic sense? No. If you look at it as a proportion of what it would cost to come out here and hunt, an extra 2-3 hundred dollars on top of the tag is a small percentage to the total cost of the hunt but the hunters I have talked to have reached a breaking point and they are saying enough is enough.”
