10-25 SS Hunt Winner

 The Eastmans’ Bowhunting Journal Hunt Winner’s trip. Daniel Miller from NE won the Eastmans’ Bowhunting Journal Hunt and was escorted by Guy Eastman to a beautiful ranch in Trinidad Colorado and had, in his words, the trip of a lifetime.  “I saw plenty of elk, very good healthy elk population on the property. The guide told me 1st and foremost we want you to have a good time and there is no pressure. We went and scouted around different parts of the ranch and by Monday we had narrowed it down to 2 elk that we thought were good quality animals. One of them happened to be a herd bull and we watched him do everything that you read about or see on TV. This guy was chasing satellite bulls away, chasing off inferior animals, he was herding his harem of cows,  breeding cows,he even got in a fight. That was the one we really thought we would like to pursue. We made a plan to go back to that area and get set up and hopefully we could either call him in or they would come in naturally to the meadow that they were feeding in. As luck would have it, the bull we had seen coming down the meadow and another one looked like they were coming right at us. The 5 x 6 that I ultimately shot came right in and was just under 300 yards and we got a one-shot kill. It made my day, it made guy Eastman’s day and was a very good representation of what they do for their hunt winners.
