10-24 IAN Grand Teton Vodka
What happens when you retire, have a fabulous view of the Teton mountain range, and have access to all the potatoes you need?
Lea Beckett and her husband Bill live in Driggs and started up a little business not long ago making vodka out of potatoes. Listen to Lea describe her operation named Grand Teton Vodka: “We are very new, we have actually been in production and shipping product for about 4 weeks. We are currently shipping to all the state liquor stores in Idaho and we are shipping to Wyoming. Whose idea was this? This was my husband’s idea, his name is Bill. Was he a potato farmer? No he was a lawyer. We are what they call an artisan craft distillery. We are very small and we do everything in-house. We processed the potatoes, ferment, distill and bottle and polish, vodka requires polishing so it is polished and bottled all in this building. We can do between 60 and 100 cases a week if we are trying hard. That is 12 bottles per case.
