Wine Grape Grower Caucus Part 2

Wine Grape Grower Caucus Part 2

Wine Grape Grower Caucus Part 2. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

The Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers is once again presenting their Grower Caucus. Vicky Scharlau, Executive of the Association talks about who should attend.

SCHARLAU: Honestly anyone who’s got a real interest in their financial sustainability both on the winery and the growers side should be in the room because we’ll start the day kicking off by talking about the 2012 vintage, you know what we have seen because harvest will just have gotten over with. Then we’re going to have some people come in from a brokerage company in California that will talk about the global perspective of the bulk market.

This is the second year for the meeting at the Pasco Red Lion on Thursday, November 15th.

SCHARLAU: Then we’ve got someone coming in from the state level to talk about the bulk market in Washington. And then we’ll switch over to the wine side and from some of the large wineries in Washington, we’ll have them discuss where sales are happening. What are the varieties; what are the locations; what’s the real movement going on in the wine industry.

For a complete listing of topics to be covered visit their website at wawgg.org. If you want to save a few dollars you will want to go online and register before the end of the month.

SCHARLAU: The cost is $75 through the end of October and then it goes up to $90 after October 31st but you can probably register right up until the day before because we just need to do a head count for lunch.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
