 The Idaho Preferred^® program is designed to identify and promote food and agriculture products from the Gem State. Under the direction of the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, Idaho Preferred^® promotes the quality, diversity, and availability of the food and agriculture products we grow, raise and process in Idaho. Here’s ISDA representative Leah Clark: “I manage The Idaho Preferred^® program at the Idaho State Department of Agriculture art I also serve as the Idaho state lead for the national Farm to School Network so I wear 2 hats. The school lunch program has always done a great job of feeding our children but there is a great emphasis now on increasing fruits and vegetables, increasing whole grains, minimizing fat and calories so farm to school really helps them do all of those things. That is why we are helping to support this farm to school program in the Boise school district and really bringing attention to the fact that schools are using local fruits and vegetables and they really are making great strides in increasing the nutritional value of the school lunch program and their menus.
