8-28 FB Resilience

I recently chatted with Cheri Chase,Communications Director for the Idaho Dairy Products Commission about Kristin Armstrong. “There is kind of a metaphor Cheri between Kristin and the dairy community. Before going to the Olympics she fell and hurt her so very badly but picked herself up and went on to win. The dairy community has had very hard times and yet they continue to pick themselves up and keep going. That is an excellent point. The dairy community is struggling, but you won’t find a group of people who are more resilient and have more faith and desire to continue creating that wholesome and nutritious dairy product that people enjoy. Dairy farm families, it is ingrained in them, for most of them it is generational where they have been in the business for many generations and they are just not going to give up. They will keep going. They are going to get through this. It’s going to be tough but it is in their blood and it is what they are wanting to do just like Kristin and bike racing, is a part of her and it continues to be a part of her and she said that. The same thing will happen with dairy farmers. We have to keep working with them, hoping they will make it through the best they can.
