7-9 SS Griz vs Wolf
Grizzlies and wolves. Who is the tougher predator and who would win in that fight. An expert will “weigh in” on that subject. Every time I talk to Mike Eastman, founder of the Eastman Hunting Journals I am, if not absolutely amazed, certainly very entertained. He is a regular contributor to the show because he just has a gift for explaining outdoor experiences along with a profound body of knowledge to back up his conversations. Since wolves seem to be at the top of the food chain these days, I was asking his opinion on whether they would try and take on something as big, tough and ominous as a grizzly bear. “Some guys will tell you that wolves will take on a grizz. I think they probably will if they are hungry enough. 2 dogs can raise heck with a grizzly bear, it drives them nuts. Grizzly bears hate dogs. I don’t have a dog up here. I have another story. My neighbor had a dog and it was a bear dog and bears have a really hard time with a good bear dog. They try to swat it and they can’t. We have an old bear here and he just ignores them. Even if they nip at his heels he keeps on walking but I imagine if they wanted to, they could raise heck with a grizzly but typically they don’t. They’re too busy killing all the ungulates in sight.
