74 of our top land grant universities have pulled together to offer farmers and ranchers an excellent web site that provides  a host of answers for tough questions  on Ag  safety and health. I’m Susan Allen when Open Range returns I’ll share how so much information is merely a click away . All you have do is type www.extension.org/farmsafetyandhealth, pretty effortless for an endless resource of information from 74 of our land-grant universities regarding how best to cope with the dangers farmers and ranchers face on the job.  Questions regarding safe livestock handling remind me of my friend who just got steam rolled by a bull, or what you should do if you fall into the grain bin are a click away, along with injury  outreach specialists and educators. This needs to be on every new farmers computer favorites because many components of working with equipment are taken for granted like the high incidence of hearing loss, a condition that could be easily prevented. Young famers might not be aware of manure pit gasses or safety issues involving   handling big round bales of hay.  This easy to navigate format is part of a national internet –based education network called eXtension pronounced  E-extension and the new segment on farm safety falls under the Community of Practice, Farm and Ranch eXtension for Safety and Health. Dee Jepson, Ohio State University Extension’s state safety leader  says “this on-line resource is now available to serve hard-working men women and families with up –to-date safety and health materials to protect the most valuable asset: farm workers.
