6-12 SS Shooting Competition

6-12 SS Shooting Competition

Paul Kaczmarek started life in the Marine Corps as one of this country’s finest. After getting out of the corp, he became an agent with the DEA.  He also made several tours to Afghanistan as a security consultant. Bottom line, Paul has acquired quite the skill set as a shooter, whether it be pistols, rifles or shotguns and he is joining us today in order to tell us about a pretty sophisticated tournament. “The MGM IronmanIs two three-day matches. The 1st 3 days will be open, limited heavy optics and then the scoped tactical class will compete. That sounds like a lot of fun. It is a lot of fun. It consists of 11 different stages so the shooter will be briefed on a  stage of fire. He will prepare his weapons and again it is a 3 gun match so everyone will shoot all 3 firearms in each stage. Handgun, shotgun and rifle. The most common class, and the reason there is just one class for the last 3 days of competition in scope tactical is that it is most typical of what  most hunters might use. My shotgun is a Winchester X1 practical and I use a similar shotgun when I hunt birds. And the rifle, any varminter would likely use with the scope. What are you shooting at? We will be shooting at a variety of different targets, some steel, some cardboard and some clay birds. You typically will engage targets in a way that is consistent with the use of the weapon in normal use.
