LA Times Bashes Ann Romney's Dressage Passion
The L.A. Times never expected the back lash of criticism they received from the equestrienne community after printing a nasty little article about Ann Romney and her horses. I’m Susan Allen stay tuned for Open Range. We have a First Lady who is known for spending extravagant sums for designer clothes, dinners and exotic vacations yet the L.A. honed in on Ann Romney passion for horses by condemning her sport of dressage, (the one she credits helping her cope with multiple sclerosis )as a past time of only the uber wealthy. Thus many hard working middle age dressage enthusiast who can’t take the impact of say jumping were furious over the piece bombarding the paper’s blogs. Why is the liberal media against a First Lady who rides? Like Jackie Kennedy Ann’s a beautiful rider with recognition in dressage as an adult amateur at the national level and competed professionally in Grand Prix as well. While the L.A. Times was appauled Romney spent $7,800 one year to insure five of her horses, an amount that wouldn’t cover Michelle Obama’s monthly shoe and bag budget, it also irked the Times that while at her California house Ann rides takes the train to ride in the tony equestrienne community of Del Mar. Guess they conveniently forgot President Ronald Reagan frequented that area horseback on his exquisite mounts . Funny how this backfired The L.A. times wanted us to be outraged over Ann Romney’s passion for horses instead they provided invaluable PR that bonded this private possible first lady to horse lover everywhere.
